the whole time (other than the actual service that most just wait for the ending of) no one ever brings up any of the philosophies of Jesus or asks how they can be more like Jesus, they just socialize. Well sorry folks, that is a country club, not a church. You may be in a church building, but you are members of a “church” only in name. You are a member of your local country club that also happens to prescribe to whatever sect of Christianity. I’m not saying i’m any better, but it’s true.

I read the title of this video and couldn’t believe it. I have been saying for years that many of the larger churches in the south that I grew up around absolutely act more like country clubs than churches. Every Sunday everyone gets dressed up to go socialize with friends. Most sit and politely nod and wait for the service to be over. Then the guys talk about guy stuff, the girls talk about girl stuff, the kids talk about kid stuff, maybe we go eat somewhere, and.. (cont)

I love John Piper and what God is doing in his life! PREACH Piper! The church is too busy being like the world just so it soothe their conscious. They (we) are afraid of looking like children of God.

  6. Strefanasha says:

are you a church, a club, or a cult

churches where one is bullied the way Piper bullies are cults

@itskragus I am not concerned, my friend. Tell me the whole salvation story is ONE big miracle, and no one will bother. But don`t claim to have evidence when there is none. Because reasonable, thinking people will not accept that…. “Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe.” … Believers should stick to that.

  8. itskragus says:

@ndzoko God created beings with free will. Meaning that Satan chose to disobey him and from that absence of God, evil was born. And you’re right, there is no tangible proof for salvation. There is proof for Christ’s existence, his death, but not of salvation. That’s why Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe.” But there is a true experience that you have… but even if I’m wrong, why are you so concerned? Let me be a misguided optimist.

  9. ndzoko says:

@itskragus God sent his son to defeat Satan, >>> So god sent his son to free us from satan, whom he created., That`s GREAT love. LOL. The whole salvation story makes no sense, no matter from whatever angle you look at it. Moreover there is not a shred of evidence for salvation. NONE. And to boot, scriptures itself say that… salvation is foolishness….

  10. itskragus says:

@ndzoko My Lord. We seem to be repeating the same points over and over. Those rules were for ISRAEL. You know, that country? God chose them. However, they kept failing so he sent his Son out of love to reach everyone. Those are still sins, but God never wanted those punishments out of being vindictive, they were for the people’s own good. However, God sent his son to defeat Satan, sin, and death, and free us from religion!

  11. ndzoko says:

@itskragus The rules haven’t changed. …. Man, do YOU read my reply !! The rules have completely changed. Does god still demands homos to be killed, witches to be killed , workers on the sabbath to be killed !! Is working on the Sabbath still a sin !! You don“t have to have any silly epistemic debate to understand this. Any 6th grader understands.

  12. itskragus says:

@ndzoko I’m beginning to think that you are only reading half of my post. The rules haven’t changed. God still hates sin. Sin is still sin. God hates sin because it separates us from him. Now if you want an epistemic/metaphysical debate on where those rules originate then you should read some C.S. Lewis or some William Lane Craig.

  13. ndzoko says:

@itskragus : What would you prefer? No rules? .>>>>> You know what I prefer. You know what is JUST. Gods morality must be the same from the beginning of humanity to the end of time, and the same for all peoples of the world. THAT IS BASIC JUSTICE. Obviously god`s morality changes according to what people it is applied to.. Therefore ,the bible has no more validity as “Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves “

  14. itskragus says:

@ndzoko You, sir or madam, seem very closed minded. What would you prefer? No rules? That’s not very loving. The rules we have in the Bible are for our own health or for our relationship with God. Check out Isiah 55:8. The rules haven’t changed… neither has the punishment… but Jesus already bore our punishment. Now we’re free to obey him, not out of fear of punishment, but out of love for him!

  15. ndzoko says:

@itskragus Well, sir/lady. if you want to call a god, with such standards, loving , caring, compassionate, forgiving, JUST, be my guest , I suggest you trash your bible, it is screwing your sense of justice. Once again you admit that god`s standards, regarding the jews,in biblical times were different then today. This again proves my point. God`s standards cannot change according to when and where they are applied. They must be the same everywhere, all the time. The bible is JUNK.

  16. itskragus says:

@ndzoko That’s exactly the point! It’s not MY justice. It is Gods standards. In the Old Testament he gave special revelation to a single nation, telling them exactly what they ought to do. In order for them to be a holy nation he gave them rules and consequences so that they would be set apart from the pagans…

But this wasn’t sufficient, almost no one could act properly and sacrifices were needed. So from the garden of Eden, God promised a Messiah, Jesus who gave us a new covenant.

  17. ndzoko says:

@itskragus What kind of DIVINE justice are you talking about ?? Capital punishment, for being a witch? For working on the sabbath ? For being a fortuneteller ? etc. etc. Is that YOUR kind of justice ?

  18. itskragus says:

@ndzoko It’s not an act of love. It’s an act of justice. You’re trying to isolate a single attribute of God. You didn’t answer whether or not you actually have read the Bible…

  19. ndzoko says:

    @BritneyAddicted4EVA ..Enjoy your NEW fantasy.

  20. BritneyAddicted4EVA says:

@ndzoko Not it is not but it might sound like it. My “religion” if you want to call it is based on my assurance that in Jesus God is not for me but against me. Therefore I’m free to love others because Jesus loved me. I left RCC not because of people but because of serious doctrinal errors and because I wanted to share the Bible with people and talk about it with others. There is nothing wrong about that.

  21. ndzoko says:

@BritneyAddicted4EVA Your comment shows the shallowness of your belief. What shutspah to believe you have the ONLY truth. Your religion seems based on nice people.

  22. ndzoko says:

@itskragus Man, oh man. Are you living in the 21th century ? You consider the fact that god let ONE family live (in the supposed wolrdwide flood)and drowning the whole of humanity and ACT OF LOVE ? Please man get your marbles together. The holocaust must be an act of love too. Hitler let some jews live. Just to prove the silliness of your point.

  23. itskragus says:

@ndzoko In the Old Testament, the Israelites (I assume that’s what you’re talking about) were under the Old Covenant. You’re assuming that God went from a god of justice (OT) to a god of love (NT). He was always both. The fact that he allowed us to live past the flood is evidence. In the OT God elected a single person to become a nation, in the NT he elects people.

  24. ndzoko says:

@itskragus No. His implementation of how to judge what is right and wrong changed…. Your explantion is just playing with words. In the O.T. god(jesus) ordered people killed for a lot petty transgressions, but in the New Testament. this same god (jesus) preaches” love your neighbor”. This is a total reversal of his morality. There is only one explanation: The bible is human JUNK

  25. itskragus says:

@ndzoko No. His implementation of how to judge what is right and wrong changed. Thanks for putting words into my mouth. The implementation in the OT was that you had to make atonements for the sins you committed, against God or man. In the NT, God sent himself into the world to make the everlasting atonement.

Jesus bore all the punishment that we deserve under the Law for all the sins that we would commit. I’m getting a really strong feeling that you’ve never actually read the Bible…
